Since 2016, Food Angel has been collecting surplus food at Link’s fresh markets and shopping centres to prepare meals and food packs for those in need. In addition, Food Angel launched We Link We Share Programme for the first time, training university students as trainers to promote food waste reduction and community care. This initiative aims to raise awareness among young people about global sustainable development through workshops, hands-on services, and celebrity sharing sessions.
At the end of February, participants from Higher Diploma in Psychology at Hong Kong Metropolitan University visited Link Sustainability Lab at Lok Fu Place to share project progress and deepen their understanding of the circular economy, sustainable development, and the principles of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance).
One of the participants, Kammy Wong said the experience of collecting surplus food at Link’s fresh market was unforgettable.
Rico Leung shared that he has gained a clearer understanding of his potential and has improved communication skills through the programme.
Katrina Cheng, programme in charge, said that one of the participants reflected on the significance of the programme inspired by a painting online. Likening participants to ants: although small, we can work together to create a substantial positive impact on society.
