The participants also included 35 local community groups from across the city.
The "Tour de Link 2024" was held in two rounds from 7 August to 1 September 2024 in six of Link’s malls across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. Each venue was equipped with fitness bikes for all ages to enjoy fitness fun cycling at participants’ own pace. The first round took place from 7 to 18 August at TKO Spot, T Town (South) and Oi Tung Shopping Centre, and the second round ran from 21 August to 1 September at Lok Fu Place, Kai Tin Shopping Centre and Wo Che Plaza.
For the first time, riders from Kai Tin Shopping Centre in Lam Tin accumulated the most mileage among the six districts and the second round with a total of 7771.91 km cycled. In the first round, participants from TKO Spot in Tseung Kwan O were victorious for a second consecutive year, winning the championship with 6,604.85 km completed.
This year’s “Hong Kong Cycling Champ” in the men’s category came from T Town, the women’s category winner was from Lok Fu Place, with the children’s and family categories won by riders both from TKO Spot. The “Super Ace Team” award saw 168 contenders and was won by TEAMGOLD, while the “Mile Eater” award went to “藍田疾風 FAFA”, who records the highest accumulated cycling mileage across the six venues in the two rounds of competition.
Greg Chubb, Chief Operating Officer Ex. Mainland China of Link, said, “We are delighted and proud to see that Tour de Link 2024 has inspired Hongkongers of all ages to truly go beyond their limits this year not just for their own personal gain but also for the benefit of their wider communities. We are especially thrilled to see Tour de Link building an increasing loyal fan base over the last few years with so many riders eagerly anticipating the event and coming back to compete every year. Congratulations to all our champions and winners this year and a huge thank you as always to everyone who participated in this year’s competition and their support in making it such a success.”
As the first-of-its-kind indoor cycling rally in Hong Kong, the "Tour de Link" has attracted more than 45,000 participants in total since it was launched in 2021, with more than 62,000 rides and 114,400 km cycled.
