Earlier this month at The Hong Kong Golf Club in Deep Water Bay, Link Asset Management Limited (Link) was unveiled as the new title sponsor of the Hong Kong Open golf championship for the next three years.
Through this iconic sponsorship, Link aims to promote the game of golf within the wider local community across the city and make it more accessible to the public. Golf has been gaining more popularity and traction across Hong Kong in recent years with more young players from the city starting to compete seriously and successfully on the professional circuit. This is something that Link hopes to support over the longer term to ensure the growth of golf continues to develop sustainably and attract new and diverse interest.
One of Asia’s oldest and most prestigious golf championships, the Link Hong Kong Open will be played at the historic Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling from 21-24 November. This year will be the 63rd edition of the Open and also marks the 135th anniversary of the Hong Kong Golf Club.
To celebrate this landmark year during the tournament, the 18 holes of the Hong Kong Open’s renowned composite course will be named after the 18 districts of Hong Kong to promote tourism.
George Hongchoy, Link Chief Executive Officer said: “The Link Hong Kong Open is a marquee event that showcases our city’s world-class golfing experience, attracting professional and amateur golfers both locally and internationally. Hong Kong’s golf is something that we should be proud of and something worthy of promoting on a bigger scale and making more accessible to local communities. Supporting the Hong Kong Open is a perfect opportunity to showcase Link as a Hong Kong headquartered company with deep ties to the local community that embraces regional opportunities.”
Andy Kwok, Captain of The Hong Kong Golf Club said: “This historic championship, the oldest professional sporting event in Hong Kong, always captures the imagination, and with the support of Link we are looking forward to putting on a great show for the community at large.”
