This October, Link brought the excitement of golf into the heart of the community. The “Tour de Link Golf Challenge”, held at Lok Fu Place, Oi Tung Shopping Centre and TKO Spot, transformed the malls’ communal spaces into vibrant, creative and interactive golf experience venues.
Across a series of free game zones, members of the public were invited to experience the thrill of golf first-hand. Colourful fairways attracted numerous families eager to participate, as laughter filled the air and created a lively and joyful atmosphere.
The highlight of the event was the “Tour de Link Golf Challenge”, which brought participants together in a friendly cross-district competition. Residents could enjoy a relaxing swing right in their neighbourhoods without the need for a long trip to a golf course.
Tim Choy, who brought his four-year-old daughter to the event, described playing golf in a shopping centre as a fresh and delightful experience: “It was our first time trying golf, and we didn’t expect to have so much fun at the mall! The coach was very patient, and the moment my daughter successfully hit the ball out, we both felt a real sense of achievement.” He particularly appreciated the interactive design, such as the animated scoring screens, which made the activity more immersive for children while also keeping the sport approachable and fun.
Also trying golf for the first time, Polly joined the challenge with her three-year-old daughter. She was impressed by the thoughtful arrangement of staff and coaches stationed at each area, guiding participants on grip and swing techniques. “The on-site design was very realistic and piqued my interest. It turns out hitting a ball isn’t as difficult as I imagined.”
Adding to the event’s impact, Link announced a donation of HK$50,000 worth of meal vouchers to those in need in the winning district, made in the name of all participants. Polly noted that being able to help others while enjoying the competition made the event especially meaningful.

At the golf zone in Lok Fu Place, coach Willie Szeto, with over a decade of teaching experience, patiently guided residents through their swings. He described this collaboration with Link as a rewarding experience that brought the joy of sport directly into the community.
He shared that golf is not an out-of-reach sport and hopes this event will help change perception, giving more people the chance to learn and try it for themselves: “Teaching adults and children each comes with its own challenges,” he explained, “but the most important thing is helping them hit the ball successfully and master the basics. Once they feel a sense of achievement and fun, that’s when ongoing interest in learning begins.”
He was delighted by how quickly participants picked up new skills: “Everyone learnt so fast! The atmosphere was incredibly lively, and it was wonderful to see whole families joining in and enjoying the fun of swinging together.”
Another participant, PC, who claimed the Hong Kong Golf Master title in the challenge, found the experience both interesting and nerve-racking. Competing with other participants kept the energy high, and seeing many children take part made the atmosphere even more cheerful. Through this event, she gained a better understanding of golf and the work of coaches. She looks forward to seeing future events run even more smoothly.

From the first curious swings to increasingly confident strokes, scene of residents playing golf left lasting impressions in the community. Organised by Link, the event not only brought golf closer to everyday life but also served as a prelude to the upcoming “Link Hong Kong Open”.
This wave of community sports enthusiasm also echoes the excitement building around the 15th National Games, set to begin in November. Hong Kong will host the golf competition, fielding eight representatives, a milestone expected to inspire greater interest and participation in the sport, further embedding golf into the fabric of the community.
