Hong Kong Island’s vibrant new lifestyle destination Stanley Plaza officially re-opens with a two-day ‘World of Food and Music Festival’ on November 26-27
| Hong Kong Island’s vibrant new lifestyle destination Stanley Plaza officially re-opens with a two-day ‘World of Food and Music Festival’ from November 26 -- 27 at 12 noon to 10pm. The event is a part of the Wine and Dine Month 2011 organised by Hong Kong Tourism Board.
The weekend extravaganza combines exotic ‘World Music’ performances with cooking demonstrations by master chefs, food and wine tastings, and live entertainment.
Headlining World Music performers is German-born Australian instrumentalist Yeshe, playing his unique African-influenced music and 7-piece Malaysian band AkashA, showcasing their culturally diverse blend of Malay, Indian and Chinese music.
Completing the eclectic line-up are Azucar Latina, Quatro Ritmo, ReOrientate and Chris Polanco.
Live entertainment at Stanley Plaza’s stunning new 300-seat amphitheatre also includes master classes by famous international and local celebrity food and wine personalities – plus wine tasting and sampling guided by experts in a ‘Wine Zone’.
Demonstrations by international celebrity chefs feature Richard Blais, most recognizable as the winner of Bravo’s “Top Chef All-Stars”, and Eli Kirshtein, a fellow “Top Chef” alumnus. Richard Blais has worked in some of the world’s best kitchens and alongside some of the world’s best chefs including Daniel Boulud in New York and Ferran Adria at world famous El Bulli in Spain.
Among Hong Kong celebrity chefs and experts are Jacky Yu, founder of Xi Yan Sweets; Margaret Xu, founder of Yin Yang; TV food critic and cookery teacher Walter Kei; Cameron Gardiner, the Australian founder of Stanley seafood restaurant Rocksalt; and Paolo Federici, Executive Chef at Holiday Inn.

With entry free of charge, World Music interspersed with cooking and wine events start from 12 noon, running through the afternoon with headline performers till 10pm.
Festivities celebrating Stanley Plaza’s extensive, HK$227-million redevelopment continue the following weekend with ‘Paws by the Sea’, a pet Festival highlighting the venue as Hong Kong’s dog-friendly shopping centre on December 3-4.
