The Wine Pairing Banquet organised by The Link together with the Hong Kong Wine Academy and renowned gourmet traveller and wine taster Walter Kei was held successfully at Chaozhou Cuisine at Kai Tin Shopping Centre last Friday, 7 December. Perfect Ending for the Wine Pairing Banquet With the collaboration of Chaozhou Cuisine and gourmet traveller Walter Kei, the Wine Pairing Banquet was a big hit among participants who appreciated the evening of gourmet food and wine. New world wines were paired with 11 different Chaozhou fusion dishes, including Mini Deep-fried Taro Cake with Oyster, Boneless Chicken in Cask, Chinese Pancake with French Honey Mustard Sauce, Sautéed Shrimps with Sichuan Chili, Sautéed Eel with Chili Sauce, and Fried Rice with Shrimp Sauce and Traditional Sugar and Coconut Wrap. In addition to the delicious food and wine combinations, the banquet offered local residents, district council members, commerce chambers and gourmets the chance to interact and socialise. During the banquet, Walter Kei and Micky Chan, Principal Lecturer from the Hong Kong Wine Academy, also shared their knowledge on the pairing between new world wine and traditional Chaozhou cuisine as well as techniques of wine tasting.
