Link is partnering with the immensely popular Japanese cartoon character chiikawa for a special 2024 Chinese New Year celebration. From 19 January to 25 February, chiikawa, adorned in a festive New Year outfit, will visit three key Link malls in Tin Shui Wai: T Town, Tin Shui Shopping Centre and Tin Chak Shopping Centre. The “New Year's Blessing Parade with chiikawa” artfully combines Japanese New Year greetings with traditional Hong Kong customs, creating a unique and auspicious New Year journey.
Fans will be delighted as the much-adored chiikawa and companions make surprise appearances in various celebratory setups across these malls, featuring a 3-metre-tall “GIGANTIC” Kagami mochi display installation, Seven Lucky God displays and longevity noodle designs. Moreover, chiikawa will be hosting exclusive fan meet-and-greet events on designated dates. Link Up members who spend a specific amount will have the unique opportunity to participate in a first-ever photo session with chiikawa in Hong Kong. During the event period, the "chiikawa Festive e-stamp Redemption" will also be launched. Link Up members who spend a specific amount can redeem their receipts for an exclusive CNY-limited-edition chiikawa red packet crossbody pouch.
Revel in three chiikawa “GIGANTIC” installations
At Tin Shui Wai's T Town, a spectacular 3-metre-tall “GIGANTIC” Kagami mochi installation awaits, glistening with golden adornments and creating an illusion of infinite reflections. This immersive installation invites guests to step inside, enveloped by the festive spirit of New Year wealth deities and a money tree, symbolising a home brimming with prosperity. Here, one can welcome the auspicious chiikawa Year Deity amidst a rich Japanese New Year ambience, ushering in a joyous spring and a year of bountiful fortune.
At Tin Shui Shopping Centre, chiikawa and friends metamorphose into the revered Seven Lucky Gods, aboard an 8-metre long, intricately crafted fortune boat. This majestic display bestows a variety of meaningful and prosperous wishes. Visitors can enjoy playing the chiikawa Ema game and make a sincere wish, fostering a sense of peace and prosperity for the coming year. Engaging in traditional activities on the fortune boat, like turning a wind wheel or playing a drum, visitors can partake in local customs alongside chiikawa, beckoning unparalleled luck for the Year of the Dragon and the fulfilment of their hearts’ desires.
Furthermore, the culinary enthusiast chiikawa at Tin Chak Shopping Centre introduces an array of interactive longevity noodles and other festive delicacies. This up-close experience allows guests to savour the taste of seasonal fare, extending wishes for ongoing abundance and well-being in the new year.
In addition, chiikawa brings a fascinating insight into Japanese New Year traditions, allowing everyone to gain a deeper understanding of Japanese New Year culture, enriching both wealth and knowledge.
