Link Asset Management Limited (Link) today (Thursday) announced that Link Sustainability Lab (the Lab), Link’s sustainability education and collaboration platform, is welcoming visitors with a new social inclusion theme entitled “Differently Together” on 25 November 2023 (Saturday), riding on its successful debut in late April this year.
Link Chairman Nicholas Allen said, “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are key elements in the United Nations’ 17 Sustainability Development Goals. I firmly believe that social inclusion is a cornerstone of a sustainable society, ensuring equity and respect in all aspects of life. With many of our properties being social hubs for people, Link is well positioned to promote social inclusion, and I hope our efforts in inclusion education will help create a more inclusive culture in the community that will drive the society to a more sustainable future.”
Three inclusive topics are featured in the theme: multiculturalism, mental wellness, and active ageing.
To learn more about the Differently Together theme, please refer to the attached fact sheet or visit the Lab’s webpage on Link’s corporate website.
The Lab is well received by the public since its opening on 23 April 2023. Over 144,000 people have visited the Lab as of the end of October. In addition, 107 workshops have been held, attracting over 2,330 participants. Recently, the Lab won the “Corporate Social Responsibility Project of the Year” at the RICS Hong Kong Awards 2023 ceremony.
The inaugural food sustainability theme, entitled "Take Eat Seriously," concluded successfully in late October 2023. Those who missed the theme are invited to revisit it by clicking here.
Link Sustainability Lab is Hong Kong’s first sustainability education and collaboration platform in the local community. Link aims to promote public education and foster collaboration among stakeholders, including customers, tenants, suppliers, business partners, industry peers and many other organisations in the community, making Link’s properties ideal places for people from all walks of life to learn and explore sustainability solutions.
With the Lab, Link hopes to achieve the 3A targets: presenting an accessible platform, showing actionable pathways to sustainable development, and proving targets are achievable.
To achieve carbon neutrality in the Lab, the lab practises environmental measures, including watering the living green wall with recycled condensate water collected from the air conditioning system, using sustainability-certified flooring materials, reducing energy consumption with LED lighting, providing water dispensers to encourage people to bring their own bottles, and conducting regular carbon audits.
For the energy consumed during the Lab's construction and operations (as of October 2023), Link purchased renewable energy certificates from electric utility CLP. Renewable energy certificates will be obtained for the upcoming year's energy consumption.
Additionally, Link has committed to purchasing carbon credits through the HKEX Core Climate platform to offset the scope 3 emissions from capital goods, upstream waste, and upstream transportation related to the Lab. Link’s carbon accounting methodology is aligned with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
