As a company that places a special focus on environmental protection, The Link is supporting International Coastal Cleanup 2014 Hong Kong for the 4th consecutive year. The opening ceremony took place on 20 September at Stanley Plaza, where Hong Kong residents were invited to participate in this international event to support and raise awareness of ocean protection. International Coastal Cleanup 2014 Hong Kong will take place from 20 September to 8 November at beaches throughout Hong Kong.

At the ceremony, Amy Yuen, Assistant Director (Water Policy) of the Environmental Protection Department, Patricia Chung, Chief Operation Officer of the Green Council, Hilda Wong, Head of Marketing, The Link Management Limited, and other officiating guests analysed the seriousness of ocean pollution today. Representatives from supporting organisations also vowed to protect the ocean. In addition, prizes were presented to the winning teams of the Beach Clean-up Competition in recognition of their efforts.

According to Hilda Wong, Head of Marketing, The Link Management Limited, The Link is not only sponsoring venues and assisting in promotions throughout the event period, but as the Green Partner of International Coastal Cleanup 2014 Hong Kong, it also sent volunteers to team up with around 100 students as well as volunteers from the Environmental Protection Department to clean up rubbish on Stanley Beach. The Link strives to set an example by having its employees take part in fostering a sustainable community. The Link also makes use of its shopping mall network to support and organise different kinds of community activities, and it works to promote environmental protection through investing in energy saving, waste reduction and carbon reduction measures.

International Coastal Cleanup was first initiated by Ocean Conservancy in 1986. In its 28th year, the event aims at encouraging citizens around the world to remove trash and debris from beaches and waterways, identify the source of debris, and change the behavioural patterns that lead to pollution.
