Hong Kong artists and performers delivered a dance performance inspired by the ocean, kick-starting a three-week exhibition “Ocean Art Walk 2014 at Stanley Plaza”.

On 12 April, the opening ceremony of the second annual “Ocean Art Walk 2014 at Stanley Plaza” was held at Stanley Plaza Amphitheatre. This three-week art exhibition, designed to raise awareness of ocean conservation, is proudly presented by The Link Management Limited ("The Link"), the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation, the Ocean Recovery Alliance and co-presented by the Southern District Council. During the opening ceremony, Hong Kong artists and performers delivered a dance performance inspired by the ocean, marking the beginning of the exhibition.

Nicholas Sallnow-Smith, Chairman of The Link, together with Douglas Woodring, Founder of the Ocean Recovery Alliance, and Lindsey McAlister, Founder and Artistic Director of Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation, officiated the opening ceremony. Local and overseas artists and representatives of youth participants, whose creations are being showcased in the exhibition, guided guests through some of the artworks and spread the important message of ocean conservation.

Hilda Wong, Head of Marketing of The Link, said, “Stanley Plaza is located on Hong Kong Island’s southern coast, where the unique scenery makes it a favourite spot for tourists and customers. The Link has supported an array of environmental and arts events over the years, and through the Ocean Art Walk exhibition, we hope to raise awareness among the public regarding the issue of ocean conservation while at the same time bringing into practice The Link’s sustainability goal of promoting a low-carbon lifestyle.”

From now until 4 May, “Ocean Art Walk 2014 at Stanley Plaza” will take place along Stanley Promenade and at Stanley Plaza. The exhibition features six sculptures and installations, a photography collection and a series of dance performances created by 12 local and overseas artists together with more than 50 youth participants. Public can join the guided tours on every Saturday and Sunday for an in-depth understanding of the conservation messages the art pieces convey. For further details, please visit www.thelink.com.hk.
