Local artist, Mr Danny Lee Chin-fai together with students of the Division of Building Science and Technology at City University of Hong Kong shares stories and creative ideas.

One of the four exhibits by students of the Division of Building Science and Technology at City University of Hong Kong will be shown at Stanley Promenade.

To encourage creativity among students, The Link is supporting Artalive@park2012 by hosting the third stage launch ceremony of this territory-wide art exploration programme at Stanley Plaza on 9 November.
Artalive@park2012, presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and organised by the Art Promotion Office, has invited students from three local universities to take part in the project. They include students from the Faculty of Architecture of The University of Hong Kong, the School of Architecture at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Division of Building Science and Technology of City University of Hong Kong.

Participating students will draw on the study of art and architecture to design and install site-specific works in parks along the seashore in Hong Kong, Kowloon and the New Territories. They will explore the diversity and flexibility of these public areas from an artistic and architectural perspective with works designed to offer a new kind of interaction that does not rely solely on visual appreciation.

Based on the theme of light, the third phase exhibition will take place at Promenade along Stanley Plaza.  A featured guest of the launch ceremony will be Hoi Chiu, sand art performer, who will make use of sand and manipulate light and shadow to create a work of art in front of the audience.  Students of the Division of Building Science and Technology at City University of Hong Kong together with artist, Danny Lee Chin-fai, will also share stories and creative ideas for each exhibit.

The Artalive@park2012 third phase exhibition will be held from November 2012 to January 2013 at Promenade along Stanley Plaza. Admission to the event is free.  Accompanying the exhibition will be a series of art events and workshops.

Combining art and education to bring art into life

Miss Hilda Wong, Head of Marketing of The Link Management Limited, said, “By making use of The Link’s large portfolio of properties, we can help promote art in the community.  We fully support Artalive@park2012 and are especially happy to have it to be held in Stanley Plaza because we can see the beauty of this activity integrating education into art among our young generation, which aligns with The Link’s core value to bring the art to our community.”

Miss Wong added that The Link keeps supporting a variety of other arts events this year, such as Project Moon of DETOUR 2012 and Art Bus: On the Move! of Hong Kong Institution of Education.  Through this art and cultural promotions, The Link can add an effort on Hong Kong’s art popularity to all walks of life.
