The Kick-off ceremony for the International Award-Winning Young Artists' Paintings Exhibition and the Generation Singer-Songwriters Concert organized by The Link Management Limited ("The Link") was held at Tin Shui Shopping Centre in Tin Shui Wai, and was attended by hundreds of participants. The Link, in alliance with Hong Kong based art school, Simply Art organized the art community engagement project "Bring Art to the Community" to showcase over 160 world-class award-winning paintings from Russia, Portugal, Hungary, Slovenia, Ukraine, Slovakia, and Hong Kong. In addition, European and local award-winning young artists painted a series of artworks entitled "Emblematic Stanley", offering a 360-degree panoramic view of the stunning landscape of Stanley. Both collections were initially exhibited at Stanley Plaza and are now currently being displayed at Tin Shui Shopping Centre until the 5 December 2010. The program is designed to promote an appreciation of the arts and to foster dialogue between young artists from different parts of the world. At the kick-off ceremony, students and teachers from two secondary schools in the Tin Shui Wai District, Heung To Middle School (TSW) and CUHK FAA Thomas Cheung Secondary School, showcased two collective paintings with the theme of "Tin Shui Wai"(see painters' names below). The two paintings will be exhibited in the district. In mid-November, young artists from Europe visited these two schools and shared with the local students their experiences and demonstrated their painting techniques. The Link invited popular singer-songwriters who performed at the Shanghai World Expo, including Eman Lam, Louis Cheung, Pong Nan and Swing, to share with the guests their experiences of their trip and to perform to the audience their signature songs. Ms. Irene Fisher, Head of Property Management of The Link stated that, "The Link owns and manages shopping centres at the doorstep of 40% of Hong Kong’s population therefore, offering an outstanding platform to present art to the local community. We hope to promote diversified cultural and artistic activities to the local community with this project. In the future, we aim to cultivate artistic sentiments and to encourage creativity by incorporating more fascinating elements and including other districts in the project." The Link has designed an art book, which comprises of a selection of outstanding international award-winning pieces that are currently on exhibition at Tin Shui Wai Shopping Centre. The art book can be obtained by the participants upon the donation of HK$50 or more to the "Lifeline Express" and signatures can also be obtained from the young local artists.
