Using performing arts as a medium, the programme provides professional drama training for golden agers, adopting a “Training, Practice, Service, Passing On” approach to nurture seniors as performers and drama instructors who contribute to society through performing arts. New outreach performances at residential care homes and drama workshops at day care centres will enable seniors with limited mobility to access arts, improving quality of life and reducing loneliness. By bringing performing arts into care homes and the wider community, the programme encourages broader participation and supports the development of senior arts.
The Programme has nurtured a group of passionate senior drama practitioners. After completing a 300-hour professional drama training course and a 100-hour Professional Drama Instructors training course, 25 seniors became qualified drama instructors. They have since delivered approximately 400 hours of Outreach Drama Experiential Classes to diverse community stakeholders, including the elderly, children, and students, reaching more than 2,800 participants. 22 graduates of the professional drama training course further enrolled in the Directing Workshop to deepen the understanding of drama from director’s perspective, embracing a fresh chapter in their later life.
