Following last year’s success in Tin Shui Wai, The Link Management Limited (“The Link”) hosted the 2nd Annual Bike Parade and Bike Dragon Dance in Tseung Kwan O on 12 February to celebrate the Chinese New Year with the community.

The Link’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. George Hongchoy, and Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Andy Cheung, started this innovative bike celebration at The Link Bike Dragon Dance event with the aim of bringing good luck to the community and promoting a low-carbon lifestyle in the new year.

Together with Alan Ho, former Hong Kong Cycling Team member, George Hongchoy and Andy Cheung began the Bike Dragon Dance at Sheung Tak Plaza with almost 300 bike enthusiasts, creating fire dragon patterns with their bicycle lights and special luminous costumes. The record-breaking fire dragon, which is over 2,000 feet in length, attracted crowds of visitors and photographers to the venue.

CNY Bike Parade to welcome the new year

On the afternoon of 12 February, more than 800 groups, families and individual participants joined The Link CNY Bike Parade, riding along the urban neighbourhoods, up and down hillsides and new waterfront bike track in Tseung Kwan O, whilst many of them had been bringing their own bikes. Five of the participants who finished the Bike Parade had won prizes, including bike tour flight tickets for two to Okinawa in Japan or Taipei, or an i-Pad mini after the completion of the parade.

George Hongchoy said, “Following our successful Chinese New Year bike event in Tin Shui Wai last year and in Tseung Kwan O this year, we hope to bring this unique festive celebration to different districts so that more people can experience a special Chinese New Year. We also hope to promote a low-carbon lifestyle with this annual signature Chinese New Year event.”
