PAWS by the Sea 2014, the largest outdoor pet extravaganza in Hong Kong, will be hosted for the 4th consecutive year at Stanley Plaza. For the first time in Hong Kong, the 86th National Dog Week, an annual celebration of canine friends held in the 4th week of September, will be celebrated to promote the message of animal care and responsible dog ownership. Over 100 doggie heroes make debut at Stanley; experts reveal the secret of effective communication with canine friends
The festivities will be held on 21 (today), 27 and 28 September. In line with the theme of “Doggie Heroes” this year, over 100 dog owners and their doggies dressed up as their favourite action heroes, such as Superman, Batman and Captain America to wow the judges, who crowned the most outstanding duo as winners.
Today’s programme highlights included the “Doggie Hero Challenge”, where doggies were assessed on their performances in speed (“Doggie Speed Tunneling”), agility (“Doggie Hula Jump”), strength (“Doggie Muscle Challenge”) and courage (“Doggie Catch the Enemies”). Aspiring doggie heroes also learned the ropes from special guests including representative from Hong Kong Seeing Eye Dog Services; Joyce, Animal Communicator, Alliance of Animal Communicators Caring About Animals; Decky Li, IACP Certified Dog Trainer; the Doctor Pet Poodle Family of 6, who are also honoured as Doctor Pet Hong Kong Outstanding Animals 2011; as well as Dior, the talented poodle that has now become a TV phenomenon.
Doggies were be put to the challenge of courage, intelligence and stamina through a variety of interactive activities, while pet owners had a chance to train up their pets through fun and games. At HKSEDS Booth: Guide Dog 101, dog lovers had the chance to learn more about the daily routine of a professional seeing eye dog, one of many canine companions that serve the visually-impaired community. Qualified Animal Communicators hosted live one-to-one pet communication sessions at the Doggie Communication Workshop, where dog owners learned to bond with our canine friends.
Doggies Flaunt their Skills to Make the Fourth New Guinness World Record AttemptTM
at Stanley Plaza For the Fourth Consecutive Year, Stanley Plaza will once again join hands with canine friends to make a new Guinness World Record TM Attempt. On 28 September, dog owners and their pets will have the opportunity to dress up as superheroes and take the challenge of “Most Dogs Balancing a Treat on the Nose”; certificates of appreciation will also be presented to all participating doggies to commemorate this special occasion.
Stanley Plaza Charity Doggie Bus Supports HKSEDS
The Link has once again partnered with “99 Bus HK” to offer a pet bus service for participants of Stanley Plaza PAWS by the Sea 2014. For two consecutive weekends, the circular shuttle will be available between Stanley Plaza and Central Ferry Pier, Mong Kok, Yuen Long and Tai Po. Simply donate HK$40 (per person/dog per trip) to travel on the Stanley Plaza Charity Doggie Bus! All proceeds (after deducting administration fees) go towards Hong Kong Seeing Eye Dog Services (HKSEDS).
