This summer, The Link REIT ("The Link") joined with the Asia Football Coaching Academy to provide free sports training to children and teens in the community, as well as a series of parent-child sports events. The two-month programme attracted over 700 participants, including students from districts across Hong Kong and low-income families in the community. In recognition of the students’ outstanding performance, a graduation ceremony was held at Lok Fu Plaza today (26 August). Certificates and prizes were presented to participants and winners in the inter-district competition.
Hundreds of students and their parents joined the ceremony. Officiating guests included Mr K T Poon, Director (Corporate Communications) of The Link Management Limited; Mr Eric Fok, President of Hong Kong Miniature Football Association and Committee of Soccer Five, Asian Football Confederation; Mr Pui Kwan Kay, BBS, Vice-chairman of the Hong Kong Football Association and Hong Kong Basketball Association; Mr Roy Millar MBE, Director Coach of the Irish Football Association and Senior Instructor of Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA); Mr King Yau Lo, Manager of the Football Sector of the Happy Valley Athletic Association; Mr Wing Yip Hui, Winling Basketball Club; Mr Raymond Kwong, Director of the Asia Football Coaching Academy; and Mr Alfred Hui, campaign ambassador. Mr K T Poon, Director (Corporate Communications) of The Link Management Limited, said, “I would like to thank all the supporting authorities, participants and tenants. The Link has a profile with many recreational facilities, which we will continue utilising to provide more healthy activities and to create a harmonious community. Ten students with outstanding performance were selected by the Academy who will continue to receive football training from the Happy Valley Athletic Association Juniors free of charge.”
Mr Raymond Kwong, Director of the Asia Football Coaching Academy, said, “I am glad to hear that The Link will continue to offer free venues. We hope that there will be more sponsorships from enthusiasts and the commercial sector so that The Community Sports Academy can provide more free sports training to the public.” Mr Alfred Hui, the Campaign Ambassador, showed off his football talents on stage during the graduation ceremony. Another highlight of the event was a sports carnival hosted by The Link giving families the opportunity to have fun together before the start of the new school semester.
