The Link regularly organises a wide range of cultural activities for the public, promoting arts and cultural development in the local community. This summer, The Link and Metro Info Radio have organised the “Metro X The Link Kids’ Voice Singing Contest 2013”, providing children with an opportunity to unleash their musical talent, increase their confidence and contribute to their overall development.
Free Professional Training to Develop Children’s Musical Potential “Metro X The Link Kids’ Voice Singing Contest 2013” has received overwhelming support from children across Hong Kong. Following an initial screening process that used demos or a live audition to whittle down candidates, 300 children were invited to join the training classes held at Kai Tin Shopping Centre on 27 and 28 July. The classes were led by professional music teachers who taught children proper pronunciation, vocalisation, tempo and self-expression skills that aimed to increase their confidence and singing potential. 300 Children Compete for the Chance to Perform at Events Organised by Metro Info Radio and The Link The 300 selected participants who attended the training classes will take part in a series of auditions at designated shopping centres of The Link in August to further narrow down the field. The first two auditions were held at Lei Yue Mun Plaza on 3 August and Chung Fu Plaza in Tin Shui Wai on 4 August. During the contest, the participants will be divided into 10 groups, with the top 15 contestants from each group able to enter the elimination series. Of the 150 participants who were not selected to join the first audition, the top 50 performers among them will be eligible to compete in the repechage to be held at Wo Che Plaza on 18 August. In addition to tremendous cheers from the contestants’ parents, support was also shown by singers Jason Chan, Shandy Gan, Keeva Mak and Agatha Kong, as well as from singer-songwriter Lil’ Ashes, who were all invited to attend the event and boost the morale of the competitors and the audience. The 100 finalists will be competing against one other at the finale to be held at Lok Fu Plaza on 25 August. Famous composer, arranger and producer Dennie Wong and renowned music producer Chan Siu Bo have been invited to act as judges for the finale.
