The Link Management Limited (“The Link”) has created a Christmas attraction based on Dr Slump, the popular Japanese manga series, and Dr Slump XMAS Penguin Village with over millions investment. On 22 November 2012, George Hongchoy, Executive Director and CEO of The Link, and Wayne Lai, TVB Best Actor awardee and voice actor of Dr Slump, officiated at The Link XMAS 2012 Super Fun Opening Ceremony at the Open Terrace of Lok Fu Plaza. The over 10-thousands-sq.ft Penguin Village consists of 5 themed zones that opened in phases after the opening ceremony. The outdoor themed zone opened last Sunday, which attracted more than 2,000 visitors. A series of Christmas events also include the Mini Gacchan XMAS Crawling Competition and The Link XMAS Sales Redemption which will together give out up to HK$100,000 free spending credits. The record-breaking Mini Gacchan XMAS Crawling Competition held recently gathered 200 babies to compete in Gacchan costumes.
Dr Slump XMAS Penguin Village offers free visits
Situated at Lok Fu Plaza, The Link Penguin Village is the largest of its kind in the world. It features the world’s first 10-metre glittery pink ‘poop’ Christmas tree and other iconic places in the world of Dr Slump, making it a must-see attraction for visitors of all ages during this Christmas.
Snowfalls and dazzling fireworks Dr Slump presents free snowfall and fireworks displays at the Penguin Village every Saturday, Sunday and public holiday (including 24-26 and 31 December) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Head of Marketing of The Link Hilda Wong said, “Dr Slump is a classic Japanese comic series that has remained a childhood favourite of many people in Hong Kong. The hilarious scenes from Dr Slump relived in this promotion campaign are a perfect match for the festive Christmas season and will attract visitors within and outside the district, which we expect to see an increase of around 10% in footfall and turnover compared to last year.”
