Link, the manager of Link Real Estate Investment Trust (Link REIT; Hong Kong stock code: 823), today announced the official opening of The Anderson, the first major retail development in the Anderson Road Development Area.
Located at the heart of one of Hong Kong’s newest residential communities, The Anderson is expected to serve a growing catchment population of around 160,000 residents in the Anderson Road Development Area and nearby neighbourhoods, including On Tat, On Tai, Sau Mau Ping and Po Tat. With approximately 139,000 sq ft of gross floor area, The Anderson offers a diverse mix of retail and dining offerings including a fresh market and dedicated food street, healthcare, education, fitness and community facilities, creating a one-stop destination for everyday needs and lifestyle experiences.
The Anderson is Link’s first purpose-built retail development delivered end-to-end, from planning and design through construction and operation. The occupancy is at 83% and expected to rise as nearby residential developments continue to be completed and populated. The project also demonstrates Link’s capability to apply its community retail expertise across the full development lifecycle.
Emmanuel Farcis, Link’s Managing Director – Asset Management & Regional Centres, said: “The Anderson reflects Link's long-term commitment to investing in local communities and creating vibrant destinations that respond to the evolving needs of residents. Drawing on our deep community retail and asset management expertise, we have created a hub that combines everyday convenience, quality offerings and comfortable community spaces. Shaped by extensive community engagement and thoughtful design, The Anderson is positioned to become the heart of this growing neighbourhood, fostering connections and strengthening the district's unique identity.”
The Anderson complements Link’s existing retail portfolio in the Sau Mau Ping Hillside cluster, which includes Sau Mau Ping Shopping Centre, Po Tat Shopping Centre and Hiu Lai Shopping Centre.
Reflecting Link's community-centric approach, The Anderson was shaped through community consultation and co-creation workshops conducted during the planning stage. Beyond retail and dining, The Anderson features a 25,000 sq ft animal-themed rooftop park, ‘Pawsitive Park’, with a range of play and recreational facilities for children and families. It also includes a 1,800-sq ft indoor atrium with a grand staircase seating area, providing shared spaces that encourage social interaction and community engagement.
Inspired by the site’s quarry heritage, The Anderson incorporates distinctive architectural features that reflect the area's unique character. Sustainability has also been integrated throughout the development, which achieved BEAM Plus Neighbourhood Bronze Assessment and BEAM Plus New Building Provisional Gold Assessment. The mall also incorporates renewable energy, water conservation, biodiversity enhancement and climate-resilient design features.
