Link Asset Management Limited (Link), the manager of Link Real Estate Investment Trust (Link REIT) is pleased to announce that 220 students were awarded the Link University Scholarship (Scholarship) this year. A scholarship presentation ceremony was held on 2 March 2024 (Saturday) to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of the awardees.
A number of distinguished guests from all 11 universities in Hong Kong attended the ceremony, including Professor Rocky Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Professor Simon Ho, President of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, together with other senior university deputies, as well as the panel of judges comprising representatives from the public, business, education and social services sectors.
Nicholas Allen, Link’s Chairman, said at the ceremony,
“Our scholarship initiative has been such a fulfilling opportunity to partner with our city’s wonderful universities over the years and support their key role in growing and developing our future leaders. In addition to the scholarships, we have also been holding a series of alumni activities for our scholars to further develop their potential. I encourage all scholars to make use of these opportunities to build personal networks, advance career goals, learn and work with others to make our society even better.”
Mr Chua Hoi-wai, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), said at the ceremony,
“The Hong Kong Council of Social Service is delighted and honoured to be a partner of the Link University Scholarship. I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the awardees. This scholarship recognises their outstanding performance in academics and community services, and it serves as an encouragement on their path to pursuing their dreams. We hope that the scholarship recipients will continue to strive for excellence, unleash their potential, and actively participate in and contribute to society.”
The Link University Scholarship is Link’s signature programme to empower first-generation university students that was established in 2015. The 220 awardees come from diverse academic disciplines and ethnicities, and include an all-time scholar from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, who received the Scholarship for four consecutive years. Each of the 220 awardee receives $20,000 from the Scholarship this year.
More than 1,700 applications were received this year, and more than 330 candidates were shortlisted by HKCSS according to their academic results and social services track record. On 4 November 2023, a record number of a panel of judges comprising 71 distinguished members from different sectors came together to interview candidates and hear their aspirations.
