Link REIT Wins Two Major Awards in Corporate Governance

Link Real Estate Investment Trust (“Link REIT”) has garnered accolades at two major corporate governance award ceremonies in Hong Kong. The Asset Corporate Awards 2016 and The Hong Kong Corporate Governance Excellence Awards 2016 honour best practices in corporate governance by recognising the continuous efforts and achievements in corporate governance among local and regional corporations.
The Asset Corporate Awards 2016
Link has won the Gold Award for the second time at The Asset Corporate Awards 2016: Excellence in Governance, CSR and Investor Relations Benchmarking. This annual awards event is organised by The Asset magazine. Among the four scoring criteria for the award – corporate governance, social responsibility, environmental responsibility and investor relations, Link achieved an exceptionally high score in governance when compared to fellow winning listed companies in Asia.
George Hongchoy, Chief Executive Officer of Link Asset Management Limited, said, “The Award is a public acknowledgement of our efforts to maintain high standards of corporate governance. It reflects our commitment to learn from our stakeholders, analysts and investors, inspiring us to continue working towards our vision of becoming a world-class real estate investor and manager.”
In addition, Link received the Best Initiative in Social Responsibility Award for the second time at same event. This award recognises Link’s flagship charity and community engagement programme, the Link Together Initiatives. Since its establishment in 2013, the Initiatives has contributed some HK$38 million to support 100+ community projects. Its purpose is to advance sustainable development of the communities near Link’s properties. To date, over 1.5 million people have benefitted from projects under the Initiatives.
The Hong Kong Corporate Governance Excellence Awards 2016
Link was also given the highest recognition at the Awards, winning the Hong Kong Corporate Governance Excellence Award in Category 1 (Main Board Companies - Hang Seng Index Constituent Companies).
The Hong Kong Corporate Governance Excellence Awards 2016 is organised by the Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies and the Centre for Corporate Governance and Financial Policy, Hong Kong Baptist University.
Inaugurated in 2007, the Awards is designed to encourage improvement in the governance of listed companies in Hong Kong. It provides recognition and prestige for those companies who achieve outstanding commitment to shareholder rights, compliance, integrity, fairness, responsibility, accountability, transparency, board independence and leadership and, for corporate social responsibility.
