To celebrate the completion of newly rejuvenated Leung King Plaza in Tuen Mun, The Link REIT held “Leung King Plaza I Love Leung King.Little Hand.Big Smile Opening Ceremony” earlier today. The asset enhancement project aims to enhance shopping and retail environment, and act as a platform to actively promote arts in the community. Leung King Plaza’s open-air terrace will be transformed into creative workshops and exhibition venue. Starting this month, families can enjoy a series of free activities organised by Leung King Plaza such as art workshops, t-shirt design competition and musical party to motivate and raise their child’s learning progress.
Fitting together “I Love Leung King” to mark the opening of Leung King Plaza
The officiating guests of honour for the opening ceremony included The Hon Mr. Lau Wong Fat, JP, Chairman of Tuen Mun District Council; Mr. Henry Lau Hoo Cheong, Founder of Promotion of Young Artists Foundation; Mr. George Hongchoy, Chief Executive Officer, The Link Management Limited; Mr. Andy Cheung Lee Ming, Chief Financial Officer, The Link Management Limited and popular artist Alfred Hui Ting Hang. 100 children from Tuen Mun district joined together and created a giant “I Love Leung King” photo montage using 1000 photos of children’s smiles. The final montage piece was completed by the officiating guests of honour to mark the official opening of Leung King Plaza.
Mr. George Hongchoy, Chief Executive Officer said, “We anticipate the new rejuvenated Leung King Plaza to not only unveil a brand-new look by providing BFA facilities and more new shopping options, but also become a new creative social platform for children in Tuen Mun to realise their artistic ability and talent as well as help cultivate important skills that benefit a child’s development.”
The Hon Mr. Lau Wong Fat, JP, Chairman of Tuen Mun District Council, added that the population and traffic has increased rapidly in the last 10 years with the growth in numbers of young families evident. The new rejuvenated Leung King Plaza seized the opportunity and provides a relaxed environment and diverse shopping complex for Tuen Mun community to enrich quality of living and increase employment opportunities in the area.
Supporting “International Children Painting Competition” – bringing arts into the community
With regards to The Link REIT’s asset enhancement project to bring arts into the community, Mr. Henry Lau Hoo Cheong, Founder of Promotion of Young Artists Foundation expressed his delight and indicated that the project coincides with their vision to kindle and facilitate talented youngsters to develop their creativity in painting and artistic potential. He also added that he is deeply thankful for The Link REIT’s support for the foundation’s “International Children Painting Competition”, with Stanley Plaza chosen as the venue for the live painting competition and Leung King Plaza and Lok Fu Plaza among the touring exhibition stops. Starting from December, Leung King Plaza will also hold art jamming workshops at the weekends for 3 consecutive months for children. Representatives will be selected at the workshops to enter the “International Children Painting Competition” representing Hong Kong and participating in Beijing art tour and contend for the best art award.
To further heighten the creative atmosphere, The Link REIT invited children from Tuen Mun district to perform a delightful dance routine at the opening ceremony. Afterwards, children enjoyed art jamming demo sessions, graffiti art and painting workshops and many more. The activities were well-liked and loved by the children who filled the terrace with creativity and imagination.
