The Link’s latest flagship shopping centre in Tuen Mun H.A.N.D.S has launched ‘Let’s Exercise @ H.A.N.D.S’. – a charity initiative designed to engage shoppers in a healthy workout for a meaningful cause. A total of 1,090,000 calories burned by participants is being converted into food calories, which will then be turned into approximately 20,000 meal boxes. The meal boxes will be distributed by The Link’s volunteer team in partnership with Food Angel – a non-profit food rescue and assistance organisation serving the underprivileged communities of Hong Kong. The meal boxes are set to be handed out to those in need on 5 March, while wishing recipients a warm Lantern Festival. Dr Calvin Lee Kwan, General Manager of Sustainability at The Link, said: “To support our local communities, The Link has engaged the public through the ‘Let’s Exercise @ H.A.N.D.S’ initiative, where we burned over one million calories, all of which were converted to approximately 20,000 meal boxes. Some of the ingredients were redistributable food items sourced from the fresh markets at The Link. This programme emphasises our ongoing commitment to sustainable development.” A total of 20 members from The Link’s volunteer team will assist with the preparation of the meal boxes at Food Angel’s kitchen located in Sham Shui Po and the distribution of meal boxes to over 60 charitable organisations throughout the city. The Link continues to support local non-profit organisations promoting charitable projects, as a collective effort to improve the lives of community members in need. |
