To encourage youth participation in art creation and promote the development of arts in the community, The Link Management Limited (“The Link”) fully supports the International Children Painting Competition 2012-13 held by Promotion of Young Artists Foundation, the first-ever international live painting competition in Asia. The competition aims to facilitate talented youngsters to develop their creativity and artistic potential through painting.
Asia’s First International Live Painting Competition
As a firm supporter of community arts development, The Link hopes to bring local art into the community by providing venues for this meaningful event. The competition will be held in two phases between 20 September 2012 and 1 September 2013. 20 overseas schools selected from the 1st phase will each send 3 representatives over the age of 12 to join the 2nd phase live painting competition, while Hong Kong representatives will compete on an individual basis. The 20 finalists from Hong Kong will participate in a subsidized exchange tour at the Subsidiary School of Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing prior to joining the 2nd phase of the competition. The live painting competition to be held between 25 August and 1 September 2013 will bring a total of 80 talented young painters from all over the world to compete in Hong Kong. Various local architectural landmarks and scenic spots will be selected as the subject matter of the competition, which will also serve to promote the city’s unique East-meets-West culture. Southern District Landmark Stanley Plaza to be Depicted in Live Paintings Stanley Plaza, The Link’s flagship boutique plaza, has also been chosen as the venue for the live painting competition. Contestants will perform live painting under the Stanley Plaza Amphitheatre, with the nearby Murray House, Blake Pier and Stanley Promenade as their subjects of paintings. The Plaza’s innovative green designs, wood toned blinds-shaped exterior and the old banyan trees may also offer rich inspiration for the contestants. Lok Fu Plaza, as The Link’s flagship, is also among the touring exhibition stops for the competition. Visitors can appreciate quality youth artworks while indulging in the fascinating scenery. |
