Although information technology is now widespread in today’s digital era, some families cannot afford to own a computer due to financial reasons. In support of digital integration for the whole community, The Link Management Limited (“The Link”) donated 100 recycled computers to St. James’ Settlement (“SJS”) during a ceremony held today at the headquarters of SJS. The donation programme also contributes to environmental protection.
All the donated hardware consists of desktop computers in good working order, installed with peripherals such as monitors and keyboards. SJS will distribute the computers to individuals or organisations in need through its vast community service network so that more people are given the opportunity to learn about information technology.
Mr Damien Wu, Head of Information Technology of The Link said, “As a responsible corporate citizen, The Link endeavours to help underprivileged groups in the community, in addition to serving people through its shopping centres across the territory. Our cooperation with St. James Settlement tallies with our environmental policy while helping to promote digital integration. Computers are regarded as an indispensable learning tool of today. We hope that this initiative can help the beneficiaries learn computer applications and build a stronger foundation for their study and career development.”
Ms Josephine Lee, Senior Manager (Partnership & Alliance) of SJS said, “We are very grateful for this donation by The Link. Their generosity will promote the recycling culture and also allow recycling of social resources.”
