To celebrate the start of the Chinese New Year, The Link will be staging a creative bike event on 12 February 2013. First launched in Tin Shui Wai last year, the 2nd Annual Bike Parade and Bike Dragon Dance will be held in Tseung Kwan O this year to bring seasonal greetings to various districts in Hong Kong.
Enter The Link Bike Parade 2013 to win bike tour tickets to Japan/ Taiwan In the Chinese New Year tradition of visiting neighbours, The Link Bike Parade 2013 will start from Hau Tak Shopping Centre in Tseung Kwan O and proceed to 6 other checkpoints including Ming Tak Shopping Centre, Maritime Bay Shopping Centre, Nan Fung Plaza, King Lam Shopping Centre, Po Lam Shopping Centre, and also ride along the new waterfront bike track to the terminal point in Sheung Tak Plaza. The total route length of approximately 13km will take about 1.5 hours to 2 hours to complete and is suitable for families and individuals, from professional riders to amateurs. Welcome to bring your own bicycle, or you may borrow one from us for the Parade. Participants will experience a dynamic Chinese New Year with Alan Ho, former Hong Kong Cycling Team member and Donald Tong, CRHK 903 DJ. Participants will also get a free trendy t-shirt and limited edition bike messenger bag with gift set included, and further have the chance to win bike tour flight tickets for two to Okinawa in Japan or Taiwan, or an i-Pad mini after the completion of the parade.
A unique and enjoyable bike route
With an extended bike route this year, the Bike Parade 2013 will allow participants to enjoy a variety of scenery and cityscape, green hillsides and the bike track along the waterfront. In addition to providing an enjoyable experience, the event is designed to encourage biking in daily life according to The Link’s corporate vision of supporting sustainability. The Link Bike Dragon Dance to set new record The Link Bike Dragon Dance 2013 is another creative green event for the Chinese New Year Celebration. In order to spread festive greetings, the 2nd Annual Bike Dragon Dance will at Tseung Kwan O. Following its successful launch in Tin Shui Wai last year, as was the case last year, The Link will lead Hong Kong cycling team representatives and about 200 bike enthusiasts on the performance beginning at Sheung Tak Plaza at 5:30pm. All bicycles will be decorated with special lighting to create a fire dragon effect along the streets of Tseung Kwan O.
Head of Marketing of The Link, Ms Hilda Wong, said, “Based on the first-ever bicycle-themed Chinese New Year event in Tin Shui Wai last year, The Link will extend this large festive gathering in the coming Chinese New Year to Tseung Kwan O district. We hope to make The Link Bike Parade and Bike Dragon Dance an annual signature event in various districts across Hong Kong and, at the same time, create a brand new green event for Chinese New Year.”
