2013 Community Cultural Ambassador Scheme

The Link REIT ("The Link") is collaborating with the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) again this year by sponsoring venues for the “2013 Community Cultural Ambassador Scheme – The Link Series”. The Scheme aims to bring different formats of art into the community through the staging of free performances by local artists for the enjoyment of the general public. A kick-off ceremony was held yesterday (3 March) at Stanley Plaza to start this year’s series of performances.
Over 30 performances in 13 venues
The LCSD invites local artists to act as Community Cultural Ambassadors every year to present interesting and educational performances in various communities. The Link, as Community Partner of the Scheme, is again providing the Scheme with free venues for the second consecutive years. Over 30 free performances will be staged in 13 shopping centres of The Link all across Hong Kong from now till June 2013.
Nine art groups interact with community members
Nine Community Cultural Ambassador groups will perform this year in The Link’s shopping centres, and they will use their extensive experience to teach members of the community about the various art performances using interactive sessions during their shows.

Preview of fantastic performances at kick-off ceremony
Representatives of all 21 of the Community Cultural Ambassador groups joined the kick-off ceremony held at the Amphitheatre at Stanley Plaza yesterday. K T Poon, Director (Corporate Communications) of The Link Management Limited, said, “It is win-win for The Link to collaborate with LCSD in promoting the Scheme. Not only do we support local art development by providing a platform for local artists, but we can also make better use of our shopping centres. By bringing in quality art performances for customers and residents, we are able to improve the lives of those around us as well.”
Winsome Chow, Assistant Director (Performing Arts) of LCSD, said, “We are delighted to have The Link as Community Partner as it allows the Community Cultural Ambassadors to present different performances in The Link’s shopping centres. We believe our collaboration further demonstrates our commitment to the community and creates more opportunities for outstanding local artists to interact with the general public.”
