The Eden Trio wanted to share their joy with Hong Kong citizens and give out blind canes to visually impaired people around the globe

This month, The Link invites The Eden Trio – a blind people choir from Taiwan to have mini concerts at Lok Fu Plaza and Lung Cheung Plaza, sharing their love and joy with Hong Kong people.  Through more interaction between the disabled and the local community, it is hoped that members of the public will better understand on the needs and feelings of visually impaired people, so that a barrier-free and inclusive society will be built.
 
In the promotion of The Eden Trio, The Link pioneered in providing audible information in addition to the traditional text format, with the aid of QR code and smart phone functions.
 
Mr K T Poon, Director of Corporate Communications of The Link Management Limited said, ‘Besides installing Barrier Free Access facilities in our shopping centres, we are also exploring various kinds of supporting technologies to better serve the community.  We hope the provision of audible information can meet the needs of visually impaired people and we will study on the feasibility of applying QR code technologies in enhancing the accessibility of the shopping centres and arouse social concern on the needs of disabled.”
 
The Eden Trio will perform again in the Atrium, UG2, B Zone of Lok Fu Plaza at 3pm tomorrow (15 May) and in Atrium of Lung Cheung Plaza at 3pm next Sunday (22 May).  Shoppers are welcome to join this free performances.
 
Eden Trio, originated from Taiwan, with four out of five are blind people. Despite their disability, they sing and perform around the world and give out canes for blind to visually impaired people through the charity sales. As of now they have already given out 3,050 blind canes, and planning to raise 10,000 more for visually impaired people in Cambodia, Thailand and in the Mainland China in the future 10 years.
